Lazy Boy Chairs Let You Kick Your Feet Up

Lazy boy chairs are the quintessential American lounge chair. These chairs were created in the 1920s and have been evolving ever since.

There's Something About The Lazy Boy

In case you've never seen one, lazy boys are big overstuffed recliners that have an attached ottoman. At least, that's how they started out. Lazy boy was revolutionary at the beginning of the 1900s because the company introduced a new chair concept to consumers. Before lazy boy, Americans had a choice of overstuffed couches or hard wooden chairs. There wasn't really an in-between chair that would allow them to lean back and relax without lying on a couch. When lazy boy was released, the company targeted the workingman, but the chairs have since evolved. Now the company looks to satisfy anyone — women, college kids — who have had a long day and need to relax.

Moving Into The 21st Century

When people think of lazy boy chairs, they tend to think of a dark blue or maroon colored recliner. That's what lazy boy used to look like, but times have changed. These days the lazy boy brand can be in found stylish, modern, up to date living rooms all over the country. Lazy boy recognized that it would have to modify its style if it wanted to stay in business.

Take the Anderson model of Lazy boy chair. This model is very inviting and traditional in colors like the original Lazy boy design, but it definitely caters to the younger generation. The lines of the chair, the channel-stitched tapered back and large pillow arms are attractive to young professionals. These types of styles have won over customers that wouldn't typically buy lazy boy.

Though a person who likes traditional lazy boy chairs might buy the Anderson style, they would steer clear of the Arc model. The Arc leaves conventional styles behind and is designed in such a way that it has no right angles. One aspect of this chair that might be appealing to old-fashioned lazy boy users is the fact that it is a large overstuffed chair. Many people steer away from modern day furniture because they think it looks to cold. The Arc model definitely isn't cold. In fact, it's very inviting.

Taking Care of the Chair

Regardless of which kind of lazy boy chairs you buy, you're going to have to take care of them. Lazy boy chairs are very durable and are made with only the best of materials. However, if you don't take care of them they won't last as long as they could. If you have a leather lazy boy, you need to place it in an area of your house that's protected from direct sunlight. Sunlight can wear weather done quickly. You also need to clean your chair weekly. The same goes for cloth lazy boy chairs. If you take good care of your lazy boy chairs, you'll be able to enjoy them for years to come.
